TASK 3 – Role-play and Report
o Task summary
For this assessment, you are required to implement (role-play) two of the innovation tools
recommended in Task 2, for example any two of:
• brainstorming
• concept maps
• creative thinking matrix
• DeBono tools (e.g. six hats)
• foresight tools
• Kirton Adaptation Innovation Inventory
• mind mapping (Buzan)
• nominal group technique
• scenario analysis.
You are to produce and discuss all the required resources to implement the tool.
In the role-play, apply your own personal leadership style, making adjustments as required, in
order to ensure the success of the activity.
Produce a summary report of the purpose of the exercise, the participants (roles and
contributions), the problem being addressed, barriers encountered and solutions to
overcome any barriers, and the outcome of the activity.
o Resources and equipment required to complete this task
o Access to textbooks and other learning materials.
o Access to a computer and Microsoft Office (Word), printer, Internet for research
access web sites, and email software (if required).
o Access to relevant legislations, regulations, standards and codes.
o Role-play participant and their assigned role and contributions
o Role-play template at the end of this task
o When and where should the task be completed?
o This task may be done in your own time as homework or you may be given time to do
this task in class (where applicable).
o The role-play will need to be performed in class and observed by your assessor.
o Your assessor will provide you with the due date for this assessment.

o Please use provided case-study/simulated business (SimIT), and your Substantive
Report from Task 2.
o You must answer by typing your answers in Microsoft Word or a similar program.
o Please include the following details in the header section of each page of your
assessment document:

• Page numbers: (set automatic page numbering on your document)
o Your assessor will advise as to whether you must email them your completed
assessment, submit the file on a USB drive or hand in a hard copy
Task 3: Role-play and Summary Report
You are to participate in a role-play to implement (communicate, discuss) your two (2) tools
from Task 2. You will have produced all the required resources to implement the tools before
participating in the role-play.
Your assessor is looking for you to implement two of the innovation tools recommended in
Task 1, for example any two of:
